Over the past few years, Katerina Evangelatos has worked across different stages, countries and circumstances.
We met her at Amphi-Theatre Spyros A. Evangelatos, the theatre founded by her parents and the place where she grew up. 

Today, she is preparing Macbeth there — or, as the old theatrical superstition insists, “The Scottish Play”.

She has just returned from China, where she presented Aristophanes’ Lysistrata with a Chinese cast.

A Greek play met a society shaped by different cultural references and sensibilities.

Themes such as the body and sexuality are approached differently in
Chinese society than they are in Europe. And this changed the way the play was interpreted, performed and received by its audience.

After years of directing, travelling and collaborating with artists from different countries and cultures, what remains constant for Katerina Evangelatos is her interest in people and their stories.
