The Olive’s Eternal Legacy

Greece and specifically the southern parts of the country,host the richest biodiversity in the Mediterranean. Crete is the largest and most fertile island of Greece, host to around 1,600 native plant species -a paradise of plants.

The people of Zounaki village, built a little over sea level amidst οlive and orange groves, are dedicated to the Olive tree cultivation, a long-standing tradition on the island.

Soil Lab

Athanasia Papadantonaki is among the first to adopt sustainable, organic Olive tree cultivation technics. She is also a passionate farmer that has greatly contributed to preserving the tradition of Olive tree cultivation on the island of Crete.

The Olive tree is the most popular tree in the Mediterranean. With its cultivation going back as far as the Minoan era, the Olive tree is the sacred tree of ancient and modern Greece — a long-standing symbol of peace, longevity and prosperity. Crete has a century-old tradition in this specific cultivation, and the prevailing Koroneiki variety. With valleys at the foothills of mountains but also very close to the sea, Crete has the ideal combination of microclimate, moisture and temperature conditions.

Silver-green Olive leaves are handpicked, starting each January for two months, and are then dried naturally. We are sourcing this bi-product of the Olive tree cultivation, that would else be discarded. Giving a second chance to by-products of a number of different cultivations is one of the greatest achievements of the KORRES Soil Lab, based on the principles of circular economy.

Extraction Lab

Dried leaves from the Cretan Olive groves are stored in stable humidity and temperature conditions, while undergoing strict controls to ensure specific quality parameters, such as absence of pests and plant diseases.

The extraction takes place at the environmentally-friendly, certified KORRES Extraction Facility. Using the maceration method and 100% natural, skin-friendly solvents, we ensure that the quality of our potent natural actives is sustained.

Olive leaves, as well as fruit and oil, contain antioxidant, soothing, and softening substances.Our Olive leaf extract is incorporated into our formulas soon after being extracted.
