SOIL
LAB 1

“Ethos is the Greek word that best describes our position on the utilization
of Greece’s soil & Nature.

This lab is all about ethical sourcing & cooperation.
We work together with more than 30 local micro-farmers and 5 Agricultural Unions around Greece. We support them financially, scientifically, personally, in every possible aspect we can.
I meet them in person, I advise them, I listen to them, I hear their dreams and their problems, they are my inspiration.
Hearing their concerns, and knowing our needs, as a path ahead, we’ve set up an R&D system of cultivation methods aiming 2 targets: To promote organic farming in Greece and to conserve the biodiversity and the cultivation of endangered species.”

The Head Scientist
of our Soil Lab

  1. 1. Giorgos Stavropoulos, Agriculturist

How? By producing a 1-day-fresh extract! Grape marc from Assyrtiko variety, a typical waste by-product of Santorini wineries, becomes an important cosmetic ingredient, rich in phenolic compounds. At this lab, only natural derived solvents are used. The extraction process’ solid residue is composted and returned to the soil as organic fertilizer, while the liquid residue is biologically treated and returned to the water stream. A literally no-waste operation.”
